Raise and Train is offered twice a year-Spring and Fall. Because of the intensive nature of raising a puppy from 8 through 20-24 weeks, I only take on one pup at a time in this program.
The schedule of training is loosely as follows, with variations depending on the individual puppy:
8-12 weeks: Your puppy is introduced to the crate and learns how to be self-reliant away from litter-mates. Housebreaking begins and by approximately 12 weeks puppy should be sleeping through the night and holding in the crate for 2 hours at a time during the day. Puppy begins to learn how to ring a bell to indicate the need to go out and potty. Simple commands of sit, lay down, and follow are also introduced at this time. Puppy learns the ideas of leadership and guidance! Vet visits begin.
12-14 weeks: Commands taught are now reinforced with more distractions. Crate training is reinforced with longer lengths of time during the day and making sure puppy can be crated quietly when family members and visitors are present.
Stairs and leash walking are introduced . Expanded socialization with new people is also introduced at this time. Vet visits continue.
14-20/24 weeks: Formal obedience commands including sit/stay, down/stay and heel, as well as others, are introduced. These commands are practiced in a variety of settings-both on and off the property. Behavioral issues are also addressed. Continuation of crate training, house breaking and socialization in new settings. Introduction to other dogs in our beginner board/train program.
